I'm learning brain tanning. The deer hides I've done have turned out well, but I've tried to tan three raccoon hides and have broken the tails on all three. How do you skin a raccoon tail without breaking the tip?

The tail is easier to do by pulling it off the bone with a tail puller or two spikes held on eithor side of the bone. Then, split it to the end with your knife. It should also be fleshed out. Be gentle when breaking it.
