-30 degrees? You have to warm it up to expect it to function the way it should. At that temp it usually has tiny crystals in it that can only be dissolved by stirring it and warming it before its used. Don't try to use it if it's that cold. If you expect to use it in your pickle - it should be used at 55 degrees Fahrenhiet or warmer! Below that even your Salt will begin to fall out of solution!
