need info on tanning beaver and otter

I need info on tanning beaver pelts I havent ever tanned any fur before so any info on supply companys and directions would be appreciated. want to make gloves.thanks

You might want to tan something easier, when you are first learning. Beaver are really thick along the back and require a lot of thinning with a fleshing machine if you want to end up with soft leather. This means thinning, putting them back in the pickle, and thinning some more. I'd send them to a tannery and then use the skins to make mittens or hats. There's nothing warmer than a good pair of beaver mittens or beaver hat in extreme cold weather. I took my wife Mountain Goat hunting one year in late November. Every morning when we crawled out of our tent it was below zero. One of the things that kept us going were our home made beaver mittens and hats, made from beaver I had trapped myself....Steve
