While pickling a deer hide for about 10 days, I noticed a large section of complete hair loss the size of my palm. Can I neutralize the hide then process hide for dehairing to remove the existing hair or am I too late?

I wonder if you had the right PH the entire time your cape was in the pickle. If that is the only place you have slippage, you can cut it out and sew it up. You might have to throw it out though and try again...
