Hair slippage after pickiling!

I occasionaly get hair slippage after pickiling whitetails what would be causing this?

Check your Ph regularly when the skin is in the pickle. Raise or lower it accordingly.

Most people salt well, at least 24 hrs. prior to pickling.

Did the skin get too warm or wet prior to salting? Maybe bacteria damaged it prior to salting.

Some skins are damaged to begin with. I once tried to tan a skin from a deer that was close to starvation in the late winter. The hair started slipping as I was beaming off the extra meat, (prior to salting.
