Tannin in Peat Bogs?

Submitted by Paddy on 02/26/2004 at 17:11. ( spideog7@yahoo.com )

Can you use water from Peat Bogs to "Vegetable Tan" hides/pelts.
Does it contain enough tannin?
Does it contain any other chemicals which may harm the skin?
How can i measure for presence of Tannin ?
How can i measure Tannin levels?
Thanks Paddy

Now you are saying what results?

Over the last 20 years, many human bodies plus a lot of animal bodies have been found while harvesting peat moss.

You may wish to check National Geographic for some articles.

One body found was in such good shape they thought it was a recent murder until the Necrotopsy, one thing that was missed was how the man was dressed, he also had a rope around his neck.

I am sure it will work for hair off, but will discolor to a brak brown any hide.

Rob, yep I can read abit, found the Book at the Holiday Inn but it was not last night.

Ya i knew that i just didn't realise that is what preserved them
In fact they found Cheese and Butter preserved in the bogs round here and a really old wooden road passes right through the bog near me.
Thanks any more info would be appreciated.
