I guess Rick and company have perfected the Alum tan since 1981. Some of the old (early 1900's) trade journals list that tan under the heading "Archaic tans".
All I was doing was kidding about the fact that they took the time to reply, but still not mention a state, area, region, etc, to narrow it down. It was just a poke, similar to when guys complain that sellers dont post a price, thats all. No tannery wars for me!
