Hello,
I bought a wet tanned deer cape and was wondering if it is still vulnerable to bacterial breakdown. I want to unthaw it again and prep it then freeze it again until I get my form etc. ? I assume it has been unthawed at least 3 times alredy so can wet tan handle this or am I taking a risk? Thanks for any responses!

the prefix un reverses the meaning on the word thaw.
Why do you want to thaw thw cape again? fpr measurements or just to play with?
The more you run a skin through the freeze/thaw cycle the higher your chance of ruining it are.
I just wanted to play with it, you know hop scotch or something. No I was saying I would like to prep it then freeze it due to my work schedule (not full time taxidermist yet). So this way I would not have to stay up doing it all one night starting at 6:00 pm . So your saying do it all at one then right? I dont appreciate your smart remarks either, why do you have to do that crap (its time wasted in life). You are "un" believable. Your best pal, Hank

out. I don't know John, but I think he was just pulling your leg. The freeze/thaw cycle will be OK for your wet tan deer cape. I have seen capes that have been through the cycle two or three times including sitting on an airport tarmack before the shipping company got it "right". The worst thing I have seen is green mold on hides left too long in the box. Of course, there are ways around green mold and your tannery should be able to avoid that problem. Short answer: You are going to be OK with the cape.
Thanks,
I just dont care for smart remarks from people I dont know (personal problem). You helped me out and didnt find them necesary and I appreciate it. Thanks to you and to John both. Hank
