i have rehydrated quite a few hides without any problems, till last week. i have salt dried them. now i have a 30 gallon barrel that i fill to the top, add some salt and some bacterialide(or something like that) and put the hide in. after 10 hours some areas of the hide are soft and some are still stiff. the stiffest parts are alway between the insition and the ear, some on the back. whats going on, this has never happened. im not loosing hair, it's just frustrating.
thanks for the help

I rehydrate about 10 or 12 hours usually ,depending on the
hide.I never add salt that only slows things down.If you
want to shorten rehyde time you can always beam it.I use
a big draw knife and a fleshing beam ,it sure helps alot.
