What is it you want to do with "thick Cow leather"? Trying to produce good quality tooling or saddle leathers are very difficult - even for someone that owns a Circular bladed Shaving Machine. It's extremely difficult to duplicate the precision shaving that Commercial Leather Tanneries can do - and for the thicker leathers thats extremely necessary. Obviously Vegetable tans are considered the best for that type of work - but it also involves sometimes retanning and "filling" the leather.
