Tanning a skin after it was preserved/dried with battryacid

I have a wallaby hide that I saved from a dog attack. I fleshed it, and put it in a battery acid pickle for a few months. I then washed it in water and furter fleshed it. I then let it dry. It is really inflexible, but the hair is thankfully still firmly intact.

I was wondering, could I soak it and re-tan it with lutan-F so it is tanned properly, or would that wreck it?

Thanks

Although in the future I would advise you to flesh the skin first, then salt, dry and relax it before the pickle - your skin should be OK! You were right in NOT neutralizing it after the pickle before you dried it. All you have to do now is rehydrate in a new pickle and then proceed to tanning and oiling it. Whatever you decide to do - since it has a lot of acid in it at this point - be sure to rehydrate it using Salt in the bath. Otherwise the skin may swell up and weaken. A new pickle is good in this instance.
