i think thats what they are suppose to do,
your stitch problem's come from yur stitching,or you could be measering your form's wrong.
if i have a 22 inch deer neck,i'll order a 21 1\2 form this will allow me to stich with no problem and close them seam with no thread showing after it dry's,i also cut a small vally down the form fill it with clay then i push my stich's into the clay vally, then groom and card it.
when it dry's ther is no pulling, gap's or cowlick's in my stiching.
i hope this help in somway good luck
fred
Is it home tanned or commerical? Not that it matters if all else was done properly, the tanning process that is. To big a form, improper use of hide paste(not enough under seam or at all) stiching not tight or to far apart can all be the problem. Also not oiling enough or at all if home tanned can cause the same. Need more info to help.
Are you sanding the form?
They must be sanded to remove the slick finish, they also have a release agent that should be removed with lacquer thinner first.
You have to go with a slightly smaller form, you are not making a drum.
What are you using for hide paste? Do the above and use Epo-Grip 2 part hide adhesive and you will stop the problems.
