after you powerwash a cape would you salt it right away or throw it into the pickle and would there be anymore fleshing required except around the face?

I assume you mean pressure washing.I usually flesh the faces on mine and then spray off the rest of the cape.Let it drain for about 20 minutes and then salt. The next day shake it off and you can either resalt and dry or rinse it out and put in your pickle.

Excuse me for my ignorance but I have never heard of pressure washing a cape. What exactly is the purpose?

sorry thought the term was power washing, so was there any more fleshing after the pickle besides the face?

Well John,we pressure wash most all of our hides.3600 psi and outside of the face there is no more fleshing to do.Takes about 3 minutes to do a deer cape about 15 min for a full bear hide.It also cleans all the blood out of the skins. No more holes where there were burrs or other chuncks in the fur.To fast to describe.Have had 6 or 7 other taxidermists here to watch and all have bought one.Richard Noles did a seminar at the NTA convention last year that we saw and were amazed. You have to see it to believe it.

Hey Linda I'm interested in pressure-wash fleshing, you suggested 3600 psi. I seem to remember an article in Breakthrough Magazine on this technique, and if I remember the man suggested 2500 psi. Can you comment?
