I am going overseas and have a couple of capes i would like to take with me. I have checked with customs how to bring them in and was told the capes had to be either tanned or pickled. I dont have the opportunity to tan them before I go, can I just pickle and dry them. Then when I get to where I am going put them back in the pickle, shave them and tan them as usual.

just be sure to dry,if your going to process it when you get their,put them,dry,not dried outand hard in a plactic bag and go.
when you get their re-hydrate in worm water and soap laudry detergent 85 degree,temp that you would wash your hands,for an hour or even a little more.
