Wet and bloody cow hide

I just took in a steer hide from a customer. The hide was placed in the freezer at the slaughter house immediately after skinning, and then was placed into the customers freezer approx. 2 hours after slaughter. The hide was folded and placed in a plastic bag and into a box for the customer at the plant. The hide was given to me 6 hours after slaughter. The hide was just beginning to freeze and was cold throughout, when I received it.My problem is that after unfolding it for measurement,I noticed the entire hairside was sopping wet with water and blood. This was at 8:00pm, so I promptly put the hide into my freezer. My question is what should I use to clean this hide (all 64 sq.feet and 100lbs. of it) that wont cause slippage, and will clean it quickly, and thoroughly. Thanks for any replies.

Salt it........

Dave, there is tons of info on this matter in the "Archives". Check it out.
remove as much meat and fat off the skin side. It will take a bit of elbow grease.
I would salt it heavily, wiping the salt into the skin thoroughly.
Drape it over something to allow it to drain.
Come back the next day and get rid of the old wet salt and repeat the salting process again.Drape and allow to drain.
Come back the next day and repeat.
After the 3rd salting, drape it and let it air dry.

Good day to all,
Dave
Once dry, ship it to a reputable tannery for tanning. The tannery will make sure it comes back to you tanned and clean.
