i have noticed that all the tanneries i have looked at through taxidermy.net are all wholesale. Is there some tanneries that recieve capes from the general public who do a terrific job for a decent price and do the fleshing for me. And also i notice they have some different tanning methods such as dry tanning, wet tanning and so on. What is the best kind of tan for a deer cape and small animal furs. Currently i use McKenzie tan and the all the fleshing by hand and it just takes to long.

..tanneries are willing to deal with the general public for a variety of reasons:
1) This goes around the taxidermist who is the top priority customer for commercial tanneries.
2) Minimum order charges.
3) The job of fleshing usually includes extra charges and time that some tanneries are not set up to do.(Or just don't want to do.)
4) Keeping records on individual skins throughout the process generally means a retail price versus a wholesale price. This wholesale price is given to taxidermists due to volume sent and repeat business.
I would suggest that you look for local taxidermists in your area and let them send your skins in with all the other work that they normally would send to a commercial tannery.
Hi,
I use Tarheel Taxidermy Services for fleshing and turning (919-365-4643 or 919-815-4304). Then the will take it to Carolina Fur Dressing for the tanning (919-231-9933).
We just got back 6 wt capes and two fawns each one was done right.
And their prices are good alot better then doing myself.

i thought carolina fur dressing was wholesale and same with tarheel taxidermy
And they usually won't take in a hide from a non-taxidermist, but they have been known to do it. I believe the retail price with that business is about double the wholesale price. Never hurts to ask. All they can do is tell you "No".
Good Luck Matt,
