ive checked the archives and couldnt find anything. ive got a tiger rug thats well over fifty years old. id like to "restore it" the skin itself is in good shape, its just knotted up like a house cats fur does. how can i clean the skin or rehydrate it without ruining it? the jawset is fake, but looks horrible. id like to replace it with a new one and repaint it and the eyes need help too. maybe this is the wrong forum to post in, but any input would be helpful. i saw an article in a Breakthrough about a wild boar restoration project, but i dont have the issue, if anyone knows anybody that i can talk too and get some help from id greatly appreciate it.thank you ryan

i want to comb out the hair but it does "shed" a little but its not slipping. i just want to know if theres a way to re-groom it without losing hair. thanks
do not rehydrate the skin it will most likely fall apart,
i've done exactely the same on a tiger rug,get a dog brush, the one with thousands of teeth on it.take your time and fold over the skin and brush just a little at a time, you may have to use a needle and pull the hair apart.
