Need help tanning snakeskins

I have a rattlesnake skin I'm trying to tan for a friend of my brother's. It's already been scraped and salted. I've never done a snakeskin and I've got a few questions.
1) If it's been salted, do I still have to freeze it?
2) Will the salt affect the tanning solution?
3) How much does the solution cost?
4) Is it something I have to order?

That's all I can think of now, I'm sure I'll have more later.

#1 Yes, freeze it until you get ready to start
#2 Yes, in a positive way
#3&4 I would order a tanning solution from someone like WASCO

Something else helpful, ask Sheila Brandon what she does. Her web site is http://www.brandonwildlifestudio.com

Thanks

since the snake is already fleshed you don't have to worry about that. Go put it in the freezer in a plastic bag for now and order the WASCO True Tan kit for reptiles. Since you are planning to tan the skin for a wallhanging, belt or other use you will have to oil it after it is tanned up to keep the skin nice soft and subtle. The kit includes the oil and also comes with instructions on how to use it step by step. It is not very expensive but does an excellent job.

I e-mailed our Kit Instructions!

I've already "copy and pasted" our instructions for you to print out. It should answer your questions and provide you with some useful information.
