Before I call the tannery...

I've got a wet tanned bear that was suppose to be dry tanned... Before I call the tannery and have to ship this hide back to them, are there any steps I can take in my shop to make this a dry tan? Thanks

A wet tan is usually unbroken and sometimes oiled differently (some tanneries DO use the same oil while others use water based oil for wet tans and petroleum based for others). Do yourself a favor, however, take electrical ties and tie the ear openings closed so they don't pack them full of sawdust and possibly blow them out.

What was this bear to be used for. If it was tanned to hang on the wall, you will have to send it back. If it is for a rug it will be ok to use.
