rattlesnake question

ok i looked in the archives three times, and im not finding the answer to my rattlesnake question. i plan on mounting this snake and dont want to do alot of painting if any. could someone please recommend the best method for preserving or tanning this skin. i am aware of the different methods but want to keep all of the color i possibly can. thanks

Any method is only as good as the person behind it.

Best is a subjective statement. Snake Tan by WASCO works, Snake tan out of California works.

Even denatured alcohol works or you can use borax. So why did you not find those answers?

I am new to reptile taxidermy and i DID look in the archives on several occations, and your post to my question did not help me a bit. i read in the archives that some people use borax and some use tan but it seems like to me the pickle would leach some of the color out of the skin. im not looking for the best method to use i am looking for the method that preserves the most color.

Use reptile tan. It will not reduce the color of the skin at all. Use Rittels Reptile tan. I hate it too when you ask an honest question and get a smart assed answer back.
