Ph help

How do I raise the Ph? Do I add more salt, vinegar, or water? I followed Rittels directions carefully...but the Ph did not change. Thanks for any help.

Tell us a little more on what you are pickling, what is your ph now, and how long have you had it in the pickle? We can go from there, Tommy

You don't raise the pH with any of those things. You have to add an alkali product to the acid to make it more "base". Baking soda is the best and easiest product to do that with, but I'm HOPING you aren't actually looking to LOWER the pH instead of raising it. When pickling, you can't get it too low as 1 is the bottom number.

I am doing a rattlesnake skin. I have completed the pickle as per Rittels instructions. Next step was to add a tanning solution and that was supposed to raise the Ph level to 4.0 It did nothing to it. The Ph right now is about 3-3.5.

Add a tablespoon of baking soda and check

Continue this step until the pH is right.
