I was just wondering if anyone out there has used McKenzie tan and if they liked using it? I used it once and the deer cape I tried it on slipped. Any advice?

Tons of info already in there on that product.

I bet the cape slipped from poor handling.

I have used the McKenzie tan and had great luck and no slippage problems. So I would say that the cape was due to either poor field care. Could you have done something in your process to cause slippage? to warm, improper ph in pickle bath? Could be a number of factors. Just look over your process start to finish.

Seems to work good for me. I have used it on whitetails as well as my small mammals.

Problems too

Dave I've had some problems too. I've been a full time taxidermist for about 20 years and used liqua tan most of those years but when I used McKenzie tan I have had hair slippage. I've gone back to the Liqua tan.

for the umpteenth time

Tans do not make skins slip. Prep prior to is what makes them slip. If you handle the skin correctly, salt and pickle and shave, etc, the tan wont make the hide slip. None of them will. You may have a compatibility problem, but its not the tan.
