hair slippage

I have a customers hide that started slipping. He really wants me to try and make this work.(I've tried to convince him otherwise). I was hoping by drying the cape out the hairs might lock in. My concern is the rehydrating process, will the hair start slipping again? So I stuck it in the freezer until I can get some advise. I've read the archives and some Glen Conley articles. Is it possible to save this hide with Stop Rot? Is Stop slip the same product as stop rot? How should I try and save this hide? Thanks for any advice.

I have put dry preserve on them and worked real careful to make one work. i dont know about stop-rot, but stop rot and stop slip are not the same.

there is one way to find out.

Let your customer pay you to play. Most generally we have to pay for an education. From the customer standpoint, if you save it, it saves him the cost of a replacement cape that wasn't "his deer".

STOP-ROT is by far the cheaper of the two, and it really doesn't change your workload.

The STOP-ROT and deer articles on the WHHTETAIL DESIGNER SYSTEMS website and TaxidermyReference.com give you a pretty good sequence to follow.

STOP-ROT will not "repair" slipped epidermis, once it is gone it is gone, BUT odds of stopping ongoing slippage has been pretty good.

if I keep practicing long enough, I'll be able to spell Whitetail Designer Systems.

I just had a bunch of capes pickled and in the freezer. The freezer went out and I discovered it when it began to smell.I then put them in another freezerand began to worry. All capes were shaved thin so I took one out and thawed it somewhat to pull the cape apart so I had the head to work on. I put towels aroung the other part of the cape to keep it cool. I bondoed the ears and just when the hide thawed I put Mkenzies tan on and mounted it.I then soaked the head with denatured alcoholand did the final adjustments. I put a dehumidifier in the room plus put a fan to circulate the air I sprayed the alcohol on for two days and all is well. I also use buckeye supreem past
