I had asked earlier about sanding down the hide with a power sander, so when I went to go try it out I found it does work well and also makes the hide very flexible because of the vibrations. That gave me the idea of using a back massager. It wouldnt work real well when i used it on the carpet so I put a pillow underneath and that seemed to work really good. I never thought I would have gotten it this soft and flexible.

Thanks... I'll definetely try that when I tan my first rug. Do you mind me asking how you dried the hide? Did you tumble it? Or did you just lay it flat to dry?
