How long does it take to do a professional tan?

A guy has been telling me for 5 weeks that a skin is in tan, and now he's telling me 3 more weeks?

I'm waiting for a picture of the skin,, is this guy draggin' me along?

thank you

I hope like heck it hasn't been in the tanning solution for 3 weeks. It should only take 24 hrs to tan a hide. If he has it in pickle it is probably ok but it sounds like he is stringin you along.

Usually the hide is in the pickle for about three days and another day or two in the tan. Another three to four days to oil,dry and break. So maybe two weeks at the longest. Maybe he's behind schedule and he's trying to B.S. you.

It really depends, but you statted a profesional tan, most tannery's will have a turnaround time of 60-90 days from the time they mark in the hides, not the time you dropped it or shipped it off. Some tannery's have special deals and wet tans that can be done but they usualy run around a 30 day retun time. So I do not think he is stringing you along I tell all my customers 6 months turn around time the hides have to be fleshed salted and dried and then when we have enough for a shippment they are sent to the tannery, we do not send one hide at a time your hide may be in the shop for a month before it is shipped with the rest of them.
