We have both because the mini works great fleshing the face. I don't feel confident enough yet using the Dakota on the facial features. There are some very talented and practiced folks out there that use the big flesher for everything.
The miniflesher works great on anything smaller than a bou.I can do a great job fleshing a complete deer cape in an hour. When you get good with one you can even turn the lips with it.
The mini works fine, it just take practice to get good with it. The biggest drawback is the mess, it'll fling flesh out the left side, which is a real pain if you're right handed. I'd still like a bigger machine, but I can do a nice job with the mini. If you do get a mini, practice on some scraps first, unless you want to practice sewing as well.
