1st time new taxidermist best wall hanging tanning process

i trap and i would like to know what you would use to tan then for on the wall .i have a tumbler and some fleshing tools.i usally sell my hide to a fur buyer .but i have a market for tanned skins to save the cost of using a profession tannery.what can i use and how to use them

it is the easiest to use and if done correctly it will make a soft leather. also use krowoil.
availble from WASCO or ozark woods. you can find the numbers for both under the section suppliers, (little link at the top of this page.)

In McKenzies catalog they have a kit for doing it. I bought one to try on a beaver. I'll post how thing go.

thank you for the ideas.also what can i use to thin the hides ?
i have a 4 inch hand held grinder and a wire wheel.i know from reading others that thinning is a big part of the tanning process /any ideas without spending a small fortune.

you shouldnt have to thin any of your fur bearers to get a decent tann. they are all mostly thin skinned and shouldnt be a problem. just make sure they are fleshed properly and degreased and you should be fine for a wall hanging i use curatan but krowtan is a good choice also if it is your first time go with krowtan
