Freezing Krowtanned Hides

I have read through the Krowtan instructions and found that they recommend freezing the tanned hide after allowing it to drip dry. I assume this is if you are not going to immediatly use the hide. Why do you have to freeze it if it is tanned? I was going to use it for a wall hanging hide, but I don't want to have to hang it on the wall inside my freezer.

Freezing it is to keep it from drying out before you mount. For a wall hanging, just let it dry. Personally, for a wall hanging, I'd use some krow oil on it and break it so it will be softer. BP
