There simply isn't an easy way!

Even for experienced Tanners with all the equipment they have - Cowhides are difficult to do simply because of their size and weight. You are much better off fleshing it clean, salting it, then drying it and sending it off to a good Tannery.

Amen! We got a free calf hide one time and thought we would be smart and tan it ourselves. Yeah, easy to say! We got the darn thing and it weighed around 60 lbs or so. You talk about thick skin. We ended up cutting it into quarters and it was still a pain. We never finished it. We tan deer all of the time and even some of those are difficult for home tanners like us. Call Trophy Game Tanning and talk to Jeff. 1-877-7837682 I think they charge around 8 bucks a square foot for a hair on hide, which is very reasonable considering the amount of work that goes into it.

I would send it out too-

Way too much work. It might cost 200-300 hundred dollars to have it tanned, but it would be worth it. Being a bull, its going to make even worse. If you dont want to spend the money, maybe someone would buy it. Without the proper equipment, you will not be happy with it.
