Rehydrating Preserved elk mount

I have a elk shoulder mount, the antlers are not aligned. Can the head be rehydrated and the scull plate realigned. The hide is NOT tanned it is preserved and was mounted less than eight weeks ago.

I am not a taxidermist, just a customer looking for advise on how to salvage my elk mount.

Greg did you ever think on taking it back to whom you had mounted it since you say that eight weeks ago you had this done ? As for your question I've done a bear that another taxidermist thought that DP was the thing to use ,i took it and soak it in a drum when it did'nt fall apart I finished pulling the remainder of the toe bones out resalted it and shipped it out to the tannery and it came out just fine.luckly.But I would get the person that put you in this spot then get your money back ,then get him to replace the cape if it's not any good, then sit down at your computer and search web, phone book, There is no reason that this should of happen there are a lot of quaified Taxidermist out there that would of given you a fantasic job. so don't pinch penny's. just read this forum.
