i wanted to brain tan a squirrel but when i cracked open the skull, only a brain the size of a chestnut was inside and that couldn't be enough for 2 or even one coating! so how do you take care of this?

Just mix them up with some warm water when the hide is starting to dry down, then massage them in. Stretch gently when starting to dry. You can always mix in a little modern oils, too. It will be fine.

Come with a free tanning kit in their head ! LOL Like Ron said , Mix enough warm water with the brain and mix it up to be like a milkshake ! YUMMY ! Bradlee
