garment tanns

a garment tan is just alot softer and is washable. that is the tann itself not the qaulity of leather.any tan can be used with taxidermy as they all preserve the skin.ez 100 would be considered more a garment tan and lutan f wouldnt see what i am saying. hope this helps.

To me, I think taxi tan is made to have stretch, hold natural color, memory for shape, minimal shrinkage and some shelp life. Garment tans seem to need to be soft, very thin as well as uniform thickness, consistent in color and durable to use. Tanning experts will peobably weigh in here soon, and would be a better answer than mine!

had to have less acid in the finished skin to prevent sensitive kin issues. I know if I rub baking soda on a commercial tanned deer cape it sounds like rice crispies in silent mode. I never did this with a garment tanned hide so I'm not sure what the reaction would be. Although most garments are lined I feel the tanneries would take this into account.
