The only place I've been able to find formic is from chemical supply places. Be careful with this stuff, and read the safety data sheet on it. It can be pretty nasty in the raw state, and has a very distinct smell. Turns to carbon monoxide as it evaporates, according to the msds.

You'll pay a hazardous shipping fee as well, unless you wait and get it from a supplier at your state convention or pick it up from a supplier. AND, it's pretty caustic stuff-- i think there are cheaper and safer alternatives out there personally.

Jody call a tannery near you see if they will sell your tanning supply
also ask them to sarpen your fleshing blades !

Formic works the best,it puffs the skin good so you can shave thin.
Only my opinion, only done it on very small and Very large skins for 32 years.

Try Authentic Taxidermy Supply.

a chemical supply company such as Aldrich, Sigma, or Fisher Scientific. They all carry it, but you'll pay Haz. shipping....

Keep your pickle container covered, it's volatile and you wouldn't want those fumes lingering around..
