Liqua - Tan question for Knoblochs

Submitted by Rob on 2/21/05 at 12:40 AM. ( )

I have a question for someone at Knoblochs or any one else with some input. I spilt a fair amount of brine on an axis hide that had liqua tan applied to it 24 hours prior to the spill. It also had Liqua Soft put on it about 7 hours before the spill. The hide was folded legnth wise twice and then rolled up flesh side together. Any contact to the flesh side would be minimal at the most. Do I have anything to worry about? When can I wash the brine out of the hair?

Thanks Rob

Your hide was tanned at the time of the spill. The directions will tell you that after 24 hrs you can either mount it, freeze it or let it dry and rehydrate it at a later date.
Now I would say the hide and give it a good wash using Pert shampoo or any other hair product of your choice. I use pert and it's my choice. Wash it twice and rinse it well.
No need to reoil but you can if you like. You can do what you like now.

Frank Thanks for the info. I knew I wanted to get the brine out of it but did not know when to wash it. I went ahead and let the oil soak in for 24 hours then washed. I don't think I will have to reoil.
