I'm making a wild boar rug. The hide is not getting soft. I tanned with Lutan F, used soft tan oil after lutan f, tumbled in corn cob grit. Does anyone have any advise on getting this hide to soften up? Any advise will be appreciated.

How big is your tumbler?
My tumbler is 30 gal.
The hide needs to be broke. And your tumbler is way too small. You need a tumbler at least 6' high and 4' wide. A small tumble doesn't allow the hide to fall enough to properly drum the hide. You could try using a staker to break the fibers in the hide. And that going to take a lot of elbow grease to break it down.
