I am thinking about buying a tanner,can someone please tell me how many deer capes you can tan at one time in a small tanner and still get good results?

The priciple,behind the auto tanners ,is that ,a combination of the tanning solution being preasureized,and,agitation of the hides,bye the drum rotateing , is what accelerates the whole prosses.To my mind,you need to allow enough room for the agitation of the hides,so, the number of hides you can prosess at one time will be determined by the size of the drum.You can pickle in the tanner ,in the same manner as tanning,and depending on your combination of pickle/tanning solutions the whiole prosses can be done in as little as 4 hrs., to 12 or more hrs. either way, its much faster than 6 days of stagnant soaking hides in pickle/tans.hope this helps you decide.
