Could I use the brine from pickle jars that use the real citric acid? How long do I leave the furs in the pickling

...like pickles.
Its possible that the brine would be suitable for pickling, but why bother? Safetee acid and table salt are too easy and cheap. 3 days pickling is supposed to be a minimum from what I've read.
citric acid will do the trick in 24 hours, 48 hours will give a nice plump for shaving, what is the purpose of going 3 days? Unless Saftey acid is that mild?
