Ive tanned a skunk hide with Krowtan and it still stinks. I already tried soap and baking soda with peroxide. If anybody has any ideas I would appreciate it.

You mean Krowtann can't cure that?

John C tells me it cures everything. Mmmmmm

NOW, what's really got you is the recipe and NOT THE TAN. Here it is one more time. It's in the archives also.

1 Quart of 3% peroxide (as they sell in the drug store
1/4 cup of baking soda
1 teaspoon of Dawn dish washing liquid

Mix this up and immediately submerse the skunk. Make sure the hair and hide are saturated. Discard the liquid after use (it CANNOT be reused) and squeeze the skunk dry.

NOW REPEAT THAT with a new batch. After it's squeezed dry, have a bucket of clear water and add a cap full of Downey clothes softener. Wash the hide and then rinse in clear water. Tumble in sawdust.

Glen Conley tells me that a bath in Stop Rot will also eliminate the smell completely.
