With a pH of 11 it's just what I'm looking for.
I don't have to use nearly as much as if I used sodium BIcarbonate (baking soda).
Is it possible to use this as a neutralizer, or is it too harsh?
Also, if I use this as my neutralizer, is it safe to add to a vat full of skins pickled in strong acid, pH 1?
Does this stuff react badly with any common degreasers, pickling enzymes, pre-tanning agents, bleaches, fur dyes, etc.? to form harmful gases? (such as ammonia or chlorine.)
I don't want any explosions or poison clouds here... just trying to be safe!
