HAVE A BLACK MAINE LION AND IMPALA THAT HAVE BEEN TANNED AROUND 6 YEARS AGO WANT TO DO LIFESIZE ON THEM . MY QUESTION IS ON THE TANNING , I KNOW THAT THEY HAVE SHELF LIFE AND THAT LIFE CAN VARY A GREAT DEAL . WHAT IF ANYTHING CAN I DO TO HELP INSURE THAT I ATLEAST HAVE A HIDE THAT I CAN MOUNT WITHOUT IT FALLING APART. I CUT A PIECE OUT OF BOTH AND RE HYDRATED THEM OVERNIGHT, SO FAR THEY LOOK OK BUT YOU CAN TELL THAT THEY HAVE A DIFFERENT FEEL THEN A FRESH HIDE .ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT.

Aside from violating Ken's rules, it's impossible to read.

Now, MY OPINION, is that I'd never try it or invest money in a form for a hide that old. Some whiz bang will tell you he's done them before, but so have I and with old tans, acid rot, alum tans, you could end up with impala hide bisque. Just MY opinion, however.
