I recently purchased a coyote skin comercially tanned. It is skinned for a lifesize mount. The problem I have is I recently went to rehydrate
an older doe cape and it fell apart like a wet paper bag. I was told this happened because the cape was so old. The coyote skin I have was tanned in 1996 and has not been kept frozen. Does anyone have a sure fire way to rehydrate without the same results as the doe.

The canids are the most fragile of hides when they get old anyway. If you want to mount a coyote, buy a green one or a frozen specimen. Rehydrating a 10 year old, soft tan that hasn't been frozen is just asking for heartache.
