Formic acid

Submitted by oldshaver on 4/30/05 at 8:30 PM. ( )

I saw a post under the Wanted categorie that needed a little attention. Some one asked where they could buy formic acid and was told by another person that it curls hair. IT DOES NOT, when used properly, nor has it ever damaged a skin when used properly. It is the most widely used acid in the fur dressing industry, and has been for decades. Hundreds of thousands of skins are pickled with this acid every year. Other acids being sold are a little more dummy proof, that is there reason for existing, not because they are better products.

OS, I think you misread that post

The post was concerning pH and the use of other acids. The remark was made that high concentrations at 1.0 "could" cause the hair to curl or burn. Check it out.

No, I read it right
