I degreased a bore cape during the pickle, tanned in Lutan F, oiled with ProPlus oil, tumbled in sawdust, and while preping the face it seamed still very greasy, so I degreased again in Kemal 4 for about an hour, the cape turned to rubber and shrunk up. It was 2 inches longer than the form, and now it is three inches short. Any Ideas on how to swell this back to size? Please and thank you.

will a salt water soak bring this back?
I have only had that happen when the watter temp is too high. don't know if that may be it. Joe
It was warm water; I never had this happen before. I thought that it might be acid swell from the search I did. I made a cold salt water soak, added a small amount of baking soda and it came back to size, but the eyes, lips and face went to red raw meat again. I must have washed the tan out. So it is back in a pickle. I have some Liqua tan to finish this off with tonight. Back in business.
