3 days, no dry

I've had a fan on this coyote for 3 days since pulling it from the soaks. I've repositioned it 3 times a day. Today I noticed a smell and turned off the fan. It is a musty-type smell. I flipped the skin inside out and the smell was more strong then. No mold or rot was seen, but it smelled. The entire inside of the pelt was still wet. I applied Stop-Rot's equivalent all over the inside of the pelt, 3 coats, until these areas became a nice white color.

Is this pelt safe for the tannery once dry?

i've had good luck with most smells using odo ban from walmart[$]..no plug intended..
you must get some dehumidifiers in your drying room. especially if you live in a humid area.
hope this helps you with the problem you discribed.

STOP-ROT's equivalent?

Would you care to enlarge upon that statement? I am REALLY interested.

Flipped it leather-out and put the fan right on it - touching it. The fan isn't the greatest, this was needed. Dehumidifiers were too heavy to move to the pelt drying area.
Now, it's dry to the touch on the belly and about 75% dry to the touch on the back.
The smell is gone, but it was gone after I applied the homebrew... That was a close one.

Will it be ok in a commercial tumbler? (so is it tannery safe?)

exactly what your trying to accomplish, what are the soaks you speak of, what is the home brew stop rot ? makeing your pelt tannery safe really only requires a few simple steps. (1)skin,(2)flesh off any remaining chunks of red meat and fat, turn and split(3)salt 1day (4)resalt to dry
ive never handled a coyote that didnt stink, a commercial tannery will send it back to you oder and grease free
