pig tanning question

I am going to be mounting a hog in the near future and I am new to the whole tanning yourself process. I fleshed the cape (looks like a blue golfball) and it is as thin as it can be without losing hair....now my question: I will be tanning using Krowtann and McKenzie tan and would like to know if it is necessary to shave the skin after soaking in Krowtann. I can't imagine getting it any thinnner without losing hair. Thank you for your time.

Why?

Why use McKenzie Tan and Krowtann? Use one or the other... When you pickle a skin in acid (Krowtann, Safety Acid, Citric Acid, etc) the skin plumps and swells. You may need to shave more, or you may have shaved enough. You should thin the skin down to the hair follicles, but do not cut into them.
