Can I rehydrate a salted hide and then tan it krowatan ?

I have done it many times. Just rehydrate the hide in cold water with a handfull of salt thrown in. After it's rehydrated let it drain a while and proceed with the Krowtann like you would with a fresh hide.

YES JUST DID IT FOR THE FIRST TIME AND WORKED OUT GREAT. NO PROBLEMS

just throw straight into krowtann - only way i've ever done it

like a post above said cold water and a handfull of salt, let soak till it softens up then rinse and go into the tann follow the dirrections like normal. The only problem you could have come up by starting with a salted cape instead fo a green cape is, you could get shrinkage and looose some strech,or it could retain memory of the position it was dried in.
