bobcat floating in safety acid

After 24 hours in the safety acid, a 2 inch portion of my bobcat's leg was floating at the top of my bath (top half wet, but exposed). I submerged it back into the solution right away, but I'm wondering if I should be concerned? My PH was good, at about 1.25 PH. Hopefully, the hide acts like a wick and keeps the skin sterile.

Think it'll be ok?

What you've described is absolutely normal. Don't sweat it.

It should be, make sure its not floating because of air trapped inside the skin. this happens sometimes. if so just work the air out. Most furbearers usually sink in my pickles. their hair is not hollow and doesn't seem to make them float like , say, deer antelope etc. I bet it is floating because of trapped air but maybe not. Either way it should be ok if you are stirring your pickle every so often.

floating isn't all bad.

if I see a hide "sink" in the pickle, I get out the salometer and recheck the salt content of my pickle. If a skin floats the salt content is usaly high enough (40 or higher). The skin will sink with a lower salt content. Here is a neat trick! mix a pickle of one pound of salt to each galon of water but do not add any acid. take an egg out of the fridge. put it in the brine solution, hey it floats! then add clean water till the egg sinks, when the egg sinks check the salt content of the brine. this is a "poor mans" salometer. and it works! Floating is OK! The hollow haired skins float all the time. The other posts here gave you very good advice! You should be fine.
