Obviously you've never tanned anything before and the very thought of starting on a moose, of all of God's creatures, is mind boggling. Few of us who do this for a living would be eager to jump on that one.

The chemicals are the same regardless of the animal and Amy Ritchie has a good outline on what to do on her website (if she's up and running after her move yet). But if you want some good advice, salt it down and send it out to have it professionally done.

I have to agree

unless you want to ruin it. If you are serious about tanning start with something small and plan to spend mega bucks for equipment to do it right. It isn't as easy as some people think. I started tanning about 4 years ago and I am still to this day very capable of ruining skins that I know nothing about. A moose is a huge undertaking. I have never tanned a moose and nor do I want to. I would send it out.
