My freezer was unplugged on Wednsday night and I found out Sunday afternoon. Thers the smell of rotting in it (i asume from a few geese, a porcupine and a bear skull with meat on it all belonging to me) the only thing important is 2 bear green hides. They were against each other and there are ice chrystals between bags and the very center of the hides are frozen still. I am going to home tan them myself, just wondering what precations I should take, like applying stop rot, ect. I can yank the hair good and it doesnt come out, just wondering if pulling on the hair is any indication if slippage will happen later. Thanks

just get right to tanning and while your fleshing use stop rot and you should be fine. Have fun and I believe you'll be fine.
