Tanning a half fighting mount

When it comes to doing a half fighting mount Im wondering what I need to do with the pads of the bears feet. After I scrape all the fat off the inside of the pad, Im wondering if putting it through the tanning process will presurve the pads?

Yes the pickling and tanning process will preserve the pads.Just make sure you get off all the fat.On the toes, make sure you cut off at last joint and you'll be fine.

After the tanning is done and it's mounted the pads need to be fixed from the sewn seam. I take sculpt-all and press a thin layer all over the pad, then take a stiff brush and press not real hard into the sculpt-all to make a textured pad. Then take a modeling tool and make the grooves into the pad just like what's on your hand. Then paint.
